ACCEPTANCE: BOUNDARIES
The project places focus on psychological contradictions in contemporary society by proposing to see applied arts as a solution to reconcile progress and traditions and connect contemporary art and the market economy. Eight practitioners from Taiwan and Western countries in fields of applied arts were invited to share how they acknowledged themselves, identified their standpoints, and found the value system that respects differences in their creative journey.

CONTEMPORARY PHENOMENON OF MESSAGES
How do we explore the characteristics of the interweaving of thoughts and dislocation of history in contemporary messages? The project initiated the exploration with the question: How Are Images Received and Information Created, prompting the artists to break down their experience of creating messages and ponder on how traditional techniques and classifications of existing vehicles live and thrive in the era of digital media. Next, through the inspection of Contemporary Graphic Design in the World, a discussion of the visual presentation of languages ensued. Cases of visual communication in Korea and European countries galvanized the artists to put together visual contexts with the potential of directing Taiwan to the world

UNDEFINED · FIVE NEW TALENTS IN TAIWANESE VISUAL ART
In this seminar, TPadd assoc., chairman Hsing-Kai Peng introduced five visual workers at ages 24 to 28 active in the field of art and literature in Taiwan with a background from Taiwan, Indonesia, and Macau. He shared how they, through ways that are raw and avant-garde, inherited the cultural codes of Taiwan in the 70s and 80s and developed the blueprint of Taiwan’s contemporary visual culture. Hsing-Kai Peng anchored London artist Jesse Kanda as the new starting point of contemporary graphic art, and elaborated on how “religiousness” in art works has gone through a decentralizing transformation after the switch of subjectivity between artists and works.

HOW SOUTH KOREA BECAME A VISUAL PIONEER IN ASIA
This lecture invited O.OO Studio to take their own experiences of engaging South Korean culture and their favourite works as examples to share how South Korean style, running through different vehicles, is recognized by the local government, consumer markets, and all generations around the world. Furthermore, O.OO interviewed South Korean designers in the fields of web design, graphic design, and programming to investigate the commonality of cross-form creation from various aspects, attempting to clarify what contributes to the South Korean style.

In this seminar, Houth selected paper objects that they have worked on or made and photos from PICNIC, the photographic portfolio in collaboration with pon ding bookstore and artis Meich Wu, to tell their stories of the active deliberation of piling messages each time before realizing their ideas.

The series accentuates the influence of paintings on contemporary ways of display. In the discussion of the current environment of image presentation, visual workers and philosophical researchers analyzed the core issues of Pictorial Art and delved into the theories of graphic arts, kindling the imagination of the prospects of graphic design.

THE AUTHENTICITY OF CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY
In this seminar, Manbo Key (Teng-Chi Yang), winner of the first prize of the Taipei Fine Arts Award, addressed the “real” and “fiction” of photography with the historical clues of the development of Taiwan's underground culture and transgender identity in his work Father’s Video Tapes. He further touched upon how life issues of an individual could be processed by contemporary photography.

THE AESTHETICS OF PICTORIAL ART
In this seminar, our research consultant Huai-An Hsing (National Yang Ming University, Master of Philosophy of Mind and Cognition) discusses the aesthetics of pictorial arts. A pictorial art was defined as a two-dimensional visual work whose main function is to provide aesthetic experience, including not only traditional categories within visual arts such as painting and photography, but also graphic design, which is rarely addressed in contemporary philosophical aesthetics.
